Event Details
Please join us for an evening of dinner, drinks, and music to benefit the feature film adaptation of Susan Murphy's hit stage musical!
Girl/Group is a musical memoir and a celebration of generations of women in music. It is a story of mothers and daughters, of ambition and aging, of doo wop and dreams deferred. At its center is the real-life tale of Jersey City’s own Carmelettes, an all-girl teenage harmony group who found themselves in the midst of one of the most exciting periods of American pop music history.
Nearly a decade after its sold-out run on the New York stage, Murphy has teamed up with award-winning filmmaker Ashlei Hardenburg to adapt Girl/Group for the screen. BE A PART OF GETTING IT THERE!
As the kick-off to our filmmaking journey, this benefit party, catered by 15 Fox Place/Word of Mouth Caterers, will help raise funds for pre-production costs including music licensing fees, staffing, recording costs, and creative outreach. Opportunities for further investment and involvement will also be presented during the evening.
Girl/Group is fiscally sponsored by From the Heart Productions, and so all contributions to our project are eligible for tax exemption.
*Please purchase tickets in advance.
